B1(c) Retrofit - Brixton

This project explores the opportunity to retrofit a disused industrial warehouse on the edge of a conservation area into a series of compact residential units.


The starting point for this project was to identify Light Industrial units near good transport links that would be suitable for conversion into residential units under The General Permitted Development Order 2015. 


Our proposed design will create a central void within the centre of the existing industrial unit in order to create twelve duplex one bedroom homes facing onto communal external space.


The project provides an opportunity to repurpose existing infrastructure that is no longer in use into much needed housing close to an urban centre.
